Barnacles

Last week I was frustrated with my living room and decided to "make art." I usually lose interest in my projects before they're finished, but this time I was determined because I really wanted to see it happen.

I started making little fabric flowers out of some super soft, creamy ribbed cotton. I arranged them on more this lovely green avacado fabric to look like barnacles. What do you think? Could be a little too "crafty" for my taste.

A few days after I started my project I found John Paul Planche's industrial barnacles and this simple DIY doilies+thumbtack project found on flickr.

Creepy Doll Sighting

I encountered this larger-than-life creepy cabbage patch doll at Poison Girl (bar) over the weekend. I had a CPD when I was little, and it was much cuter than this atrocious being. You have to give me props for the insane photo skills.

Friday, You Couldn't Have Come Sooner!

September was filled with craziness. From Paris to Ike, Austin and San Antonio-- I had a year's worth of travel, experiences and delicious food.

October will be a little more mellow, I think. We're staying around Houston this weekend;Today's mission will be to re-create the scrumptios Parisian macarons we tried in Paris from PAUL. I'm hoping to get in touch with a few Houston friends so they can test the goods. Have a great weekend! xo

Thrifty Fleur Find

Last Monday I hit up Goodwill during my lunch break and found this lovely picture of a citrus flower in a heinous faux gold/marble and toile matte. I couldn't pass it up for $4.99, so I purchased it. A quick matte change and a coat of basil spraypaint, I had a brand new botanical print for my apartment.Easy-Peasy-Japanesey.

Perfect Pear

It's times like these that I miss Bluepring Magazine. During any down-time at work, I've been slightly panicking, listing all the things I need to do before we have our guests over. I'd love to have a beautiful table setting and fresh flowers, but that's just not going to happen today. I found this pear place setting the perfect solution for a simple setting.

Today's kind of exciting because we're having a little family over for dinner tonight. Jon's friend from work, his wife and new baby. We've never had anyone over for dinner, so we're cleaning like crazy and dreaming up fun recipes to cook. There's talks of mango crème brûlée for dessert which makes me very happy. I feel very lucky to have a boyfriend who enjoys cooking.. it makes life a little fatter for me:)
