Yellow Before, Purple After

I've had this yellow buffet for awhile, and I had been wanting to paint it for sometime. I was inspired by these pretty little purple flowers to paint it purple. It was definitely an impulse thing, but 'm happy I did it. I went to Anthropologie and found these gaudy drawer pulls on sale! Thank goodness because I had to buy eight of them.



I love how it turned out.. . it's not forever, but it's fun for now.

And It Was Love

A couple week ago when Chelsey was in town, we stepped into Kuhl-Linscomb, the amazing lifestyle store in Houston that will have everything you could ever want to put into your home, kitchen, office, etc. There was this gorgeous desk that we pretty much died over.

You're probably thinking it looks like an air-hockey table but it's quite divine. It can be found at Herman Miller which means it's expensive but worth it and not in my near future.

Faux Headboard

Saw this at Apartment Therapy today. It might be the solution I'm looking for in respect to a headboard. I thought about making an upholstered headboard, but I know that when I move in a year I'll really want to change things up. And I'm lazy.

Darkness & Dancing

This weekend was a lot of fun due Jon and Elyse being in town. On Saturday we went to the Houston Dynamo game (they won, hooray!) and then we went out to a swanky club called The Drake. I totally judged the place by the crowd-- lots of over-bleached, over-tanned ladies with their equally bleached/spiked male coutnerparts being all desperate to get inside. But seriously, it was soo much fun, we danced our rumps off.


The interior was very dark and glam with low-lighting chandeliers and tufted furniture everywhere. The club owners took a cue from The Osbourne's personal decorator by keeping it nice and gothic. The Barcelona Chair from Design Within Reach and these curtains from Urban Outfitters will let you channel your own prince/princess darkness.

Industry Chic

At first glance, this chair/bed from Ikea looks like it belongs in a maternity ward, but I think with some colorful throw pillows, it would be a really cool addition to any modern living room or bedroom--as long as the space permits. My bedroom has plenty space for an oversized chair and I think this might be the top candidate. Plus, without an guest room, I'm always looking for ways to accomodate my buddies. I'm really diggin the industrial look that keeps showing up these days.

Raincoat Room

Domino Magazine has this bit where they take an outfit and use it as inspiration to design a room. In the May 2006 issue they took a chic little lady in a raincoat and made the Raincoat Room. I got pretty excited since I already had an obnoxiously yellow Kate Spade blanket I found on sale at Marshalls (score!).

When I moved back to Sugar Land, this was my big project for the first couple months. It's still a work-in-progress and it's been really fun finding stuff for my room. I think an upholstered headboard would totally make the room complete and I'm determined to learn how to make one.

Can you tell which room is mine? The grainy cell-phone picture might give it away...
